Fan recommendation

I'm thinking of dusting off my old turbo. Anyone have a recommendation for a table based fan? Will a generic 35W job frmo the 'bay work? If not, is there something better out there?

I have 2 of these, so that I can have one on each side (I run hot, and have limited space in front of the bike). One would probably be sufficient if placed directly in front of you.

No - They're still in front of me, just slightly off to the side and angled in a bit rather than directly in front of me. It's kind of like the fan placement on the Neo bike, but using much bigger fans and a bit more distance between me and the fans.

I prefer my fans off to the side and they then stop the sweat from landing on the bike.

As above, I place the Honeywell on the drive side of bike blowing mostly across me, to reduce odds of sweat going onto the drivetrain.

I've got one of these from MachineMart which works just fine. Most of the time I have it switched on to medium power, but in the warmer times, it does a great job on full power. I have it connected via a remote controlled plug switch for which I have the controller in my back pocket, as otherwise I'm too cold in the warm up. Works a treat.

Got mine a couple of weeks ago - lives up to the reviews!
A strange feeling to finish a TrainerRoad session with a relatively dry jersey!

3 power settings, but I've never needed more than the first level.

Delivery was within 2 days, unit is well built and even has a pass through plug socket on it which is handy, so can't recommend highly enough.

Well that's where you're going wrong, why would you wear a jersey when training indoors? :shock:

Awesome. It's payday soon so I might get one.

Currently using a 18" floor fan (upside down, screwed to the ceiling) and a Honeywell turbo but the airflow from them sort of pulses so I get really hot flushes.

Yes, it has a good consistent airflow, with quite good coverage, although it is important to get the angle just right.
The fan itself has a couple of angles to choose from using rubber feet positioned around the barrel if the unit, but you might need to prop it up or mount it to something depending on how you want the airflow hitting you.
Not a big deal at all, but just thought i'd mention it as it doesn't have the micro direction adjustment that some of the bladed fans offer.

That does look interesting - and has rave reviews.

Personally I use a 16" pedestal fan with a built in remote, and a Sealey HVF18 (When I bought it a couple of years ago it was available for £45ish) with 3 settings on the floor blowing at my legs\torso.

I also have a small honeywell clone, but that only gets powered up if my gf is turbo-ing at the same time, and she needs one of the other fans - imho the outout of that is fairly week AND focussed as opposed to the other two.

The thing putting me off the lasko esque fan, is that fact the angle can only be adjusted (Easily) by changing the feet.
With my sealey, I have a stick, and I can adjust he rotation as I ride, so in warmer conditions I might want it leg and torso, and in cold conditions, I might just want it pointing at the legs.

This is the fan I have always wanted, but you can't buy the bl00dy thing over here :evil:

Did consider shiping one from the states, but I contacted Lasko and they weren't willing to guarantee that it would work even with a converter.

To my mind it is virtually perfect.
Loads of airflow
Remote control, and you can change speeds through the remote
Set the tilt before you start even, as you have 4 options through from off to level 3.

Fan turned up today. Will be giving it a go tonight.
