Pardon my ignorance, but trying to educate myself and do more repairs. Bought all the parts and tools to replace the bottom bracket on my Cannondale Synapse Sora Alloy (2013) and having got the cranks off I can't get the spindle off. I thought it was a BB30, but I now think having seen this bit that it's a square tapered threaded bottom bracket. Can anyone educate me? How do I remove/replace it?

    Just tap it out with a hammer and a piece of wood between hammer and spindle to prevent damage

    I'd been watching that video and had been following it as I thought I had a BB30 bottom bracket, but It doesn't "tap out" and I'm pretty sure now it's a sealed unit.

    That's not a BB30 bottom bracket. It's some kind of threaded cartridge design. The proper tool will engage with all those little splines you see around the edge. If you can identify what sort, it should simple to find the correct tool and technique online. If you can't, take it to a shop. Unless it's marked, you should be aware that each side may have a different thread direction, this is certainly the case with BSA English thread bottom brackets. If you don't know which way it loosens, be careful cranking on it with force.

    Yes - definitely a square taper threaded BB. You will need a square taper removel tool like this

    Just remember the drive side cup is reverse threaded - so clockwise to loosen. The NDS cup is standard thread.

    A new BB is pretty cheap

    Dammit. Should have measured the axle width when I had it all deconstructed!!!
