My £20 annual Black Friday Eurosport sub awaits , quite like the constant skiing, however.

I never see it though cause its on Sky. Eurosport is the home of cycling .
  • Not sure Sky even have it anymore!

Last year most folks in the UK could watch the race, as it was shown on Freesports.
Hopefully, it will be the same, this year.

The bay crits can be something of an entertaining watch if you're desperate.

Watching them always used to help me kick start my training for the new season

SBS Cycling Facebook Page has them streamed live - the videos stick around on there. I love cyclocross but I am a bit sick of watching it now so this is some welcome relief

So what implications do the transfers have on the favourites?

I presume we are now all writing off Terpstra at Direct Energie.

Those QS boys will chase him down like a greyhound chasing a fake rabbit.
  • Got all excited there thinking the classics were just around the corner but nah, Omloop is March innit? Ages away!

Still think he’ll influence one of the bigger races. Doubt he will win.

But the greyhounds never catch the rabbit...
It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.

I hope they do, but when he's away he's away, it might mix up tactics a bit. (or not)

Depends if he can handle the pressure of being a big fish in a little pond. With QuickStep all the pressure is spread amongst all the riders, if one falters they know the team will still go home with the win one way or another. Some riders like 100% of the pressure and focus and others seem to crumble.

More top riders in teams which aren't QS can only improve the racing imo. Mathieu van der Poel, Wout Van Aert will both have a lot of pairs of eyes on them, as will Terpstra and you can't ignore Dangleknob anymore either after his win at the tour. Very excited for what's to come

    This exactly
  • Don't know if this is a good place to post but seems as good a place as any.

    https://heartbeats.dk/podcast/cykelstje ... a-brosten/

40min chat between Terpstra and Brian Holm (in English). Doesn't give a whole lot away but decent listen nonetheless. Seems pretty happy-go-lucky. If he never wins another big race again you get the feeling he'd be happy enough... maybe he's just putting it on though.

    Excellent!!!

    Thanks Hans

Terpstra has never seen himself as a top top rider.

When he first won DDV he said “for some this isn’t a big fish but for me it’s a big fat fish”

Presumably he now wants to maximise the earning potential from his palmares.

So Boonen and Terpstra don’t/didn’t usually use power meters when training.

Currently counting the days until classics season. Off to Flanders this year to ride and then spectate, not sure what's going to be a bigger test of endurance, the sportive or the day on the beer!
