Cervelo r2

Hi I am considering a deal on a 2018 r2. I'm looking for a fast lightweight carbon bike that I can ride for 30 mile to 60 mile club rides. However I'm confused about the geometry of this bike. I need a 56 frame but the head tube, and stack height are the same as canyons endurance range and between 5 to 15 mm higher than say canyons ultimate and the specialised tarmac sl4 or 5 which are clearly marketed with race geometry.

I can see the R5 has been lowered as a result of Pro riders feedback. However I can't justify chucking an extra 2 k at this a si can get an r2 for 1200 quid.

My question is therefore is the r2 a race bike or an endurance bike or something in between?

I've got long legs and short body so I need a relatively high stack / short reach and so I commute on an Endurace AL and ride weekends on an R3. My R3 is certainly lower than my Endurace, but I think that the CF version has different geometry.

I guess the R3 is a bit in between since Cervelo have S series aero bikes and C series with a higher stack and wider clearances. If you want a race bike then look at the S2.

I'm not a fan of the term 'endurance bike' as it implies we should all be riding round with slammed stems and saddle/bar drops of 200mm, which clearly isn't right
