130 OLD disc hub in 135 frame

135mm OLD disc hubs are much pricier than the new defunct 130mm hubs, which are being sold off in a lot of places.

I want another wheelset i can swap in and out of my 135mm rear spaced CX frame for road racing

As far as I can see, if I keep the right-hand locknut against the dropout, the indexing would be the same (both 11sp).
The fitting issue would be the LH locknut needing to be spaced 5mm, and also the disc needing to be spaced 5mm away from the mounts.

The wheel would need to be dished 5mm more - would that result in too much dish, making the wheel weak?

    This just sounds like a lousy idea.

    Where are you seeing all these cheap 130 OLD disc hubs?

    It's hardly like 135 hubs are that expensive, look, here's one for £20 - https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shi ... prod155163 - and it's 11 speed compatible.

    All the cheap ones seem to be only in high hole counts - I'm building onto some 24h rims

    Novatec have always been my goto - but the D612SB-11 seems not to be for sale any more.
    And their newer road option is pricey enough that I might as well go for Hope and not rish the import tax!

    For what it's worth though, dish wise, the wheel will be better off if you somehow space it as you describe (so that the dish is away from the freehub) - usually rear wheels are heavily dished towards the freehub which is what gives the tension imbalance.

    It's all the other stuff that sounds like a bad idea. Extending/replacing the axle, spacing the rotor 5mm over... it's just going to add weakness to a place where you want a lot of strength.

    In fact, on this one someone has asked wiggle and they've said it's 135mm QR:

    Their reply says "Yes, this rear hub is QR compatible." they don't confirm the 135mm!

    I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Chris B is talking shite.

    Its years and years since 130 OLD disc hubs were a thing - I would stake large sums of money that the hub is 135mm OLD.

    And if it ain't, you can send it back free anyway....

    just found this on the more expensive RD020 and RD010 hubs -
    "2 in 1 Axle: 130mm x QR with 142mm x 12mm thru axle adaptors included"
    would've thought the cheaper RD030 is the same

    seem to have found the Novatec with a direct google link rather than browsing the site.
    Still gonna be over £60 once import duty paid :roll:

    Yes it would seem that there is an error on our description and Primes, the Disc Hubs would have a OLD of 135mm and not 130mm.

    You can build a 24h rim onto a 36h hub - I've done it myself once or twice. Damon Rinard has a web page somewhere explaining the procedure.
