Seatposts

Just when I thought I had got everything together for my new Kinesis 4S project, I realise that the seat post that I have stripped from the donor bike seems to be designed for use only with a saddle with a cut out (ie. like the Specialised Toupe Sport that was originally fitted to it) - in simple terms, without the cut out, there is no way to access the front bolt of the clamp. Problem is that the saddle that I want to use (Fizik Antares) only has a 'relief channel' rather than a cut out.

I searched eBay looking for a 27.2mm seat post thinking that I would probably go for the usual Ritchey or Deda but noticed this Promax Carbon post: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PROMAX-CARBO ... 0505.m3226

Instinctively, I have always stayed away from cheap carbon but a small part of my small brain is thinking about giving it (or similar) a punt. Has anybody got one and, if so, what do they think. Alternatively, would I be better of sticking with good old fashioned ally (ie, the aforementioned Ritchey / Deda)? Any thoughts appreciated.

I've got an identical one I bought off AliExpress (think it was about £12) and its been absolutely fine. Its only a seatpost. The only caveat is they aren't very light if you are bothered about that, probably heavier than a decent quality Ali one.

Thanks guys. I hadn't really thought about weight much as I have always kind of assumed that cheap carbon was generally close to ally but I was surprised when I just had a look the £30 (ish) Ritchey / Fizik /Deda ally offerings and they all come in under the weight of the Promax. I suspect that a shiny new ally jobbie will be arriving in the post soon!
