Morning, warmish but damp here. Going to see the new office today, might get a quick 15 minutes in the sauna at lunch...

Bike tonight, if it stays damp it may be an mtb ride as my warranty replacement Genesis CDF hasn't arrived yet

Will there be any lady minions joining you?

Dunno what the weather is doing but going to take my chances and go for a wobble anyway.

    Are you okay TLW?

    :)

Got a race next weekend and as I haven’t even completed 50% of the mileage I’m in panic mode!

Bright side - might manage to follow the plan this week as it’s a taper week :)

Currently we have no lady minions in our office, unfortunately. Assaulting them in a sauna probably wouldn't go down especially well either, political correctness gone mad if you ask me

You don't *have* to assault lady minions in the sauna. You could just use sidelong glances, and furtive shuffling movements.

I see from Strava that v68 is back on the bike!

    Busy.

    Morning folks,
Is that 5 finger shuffling H³? Yes, managed to get back on the bike, that was hard work. Dropped the girl child off in Worcester Park then when I got to the back of the line of traffic beached the car and jumped on the bike. Passing traffic for the first 4 miles then lovely and sunny bimble through the park before the last bit in the wilds of Hampton and Hanworth. I could hardly breathe and couldn't put any sustained effort in so that was a bit dull.
So talking of tapering before an event, if I was stupid enough to enter a CX race in a fortnight should I start tapering now? And how do you taper down from nothing?
Interesting chat with a roofer friend of mine last night. He'd been working on a house opposite us and had noticed a few issues with the neighbours work that I need to get them to sort out. Most of them I knew about but as we were chatting he stopped and said it's too high. Their loft conversion should be below the centre line of the building, but it's above it. This is contrary to the plans and will not meet building regs. Obviously I should be as considerate to my neighbours as they have been, so I've called their architect to ask him and he said it certainly shouldn't be. I'll wait to see what they come back with before I start grassing them up to building control. I think I might become a very awkward individual.
  • Morning post whores, the weather is turning out great for some early morning rides. Shame I like my bed too much. In other news I dusted off the Heckler yesterday ready for tonight's night ride.

Brakes bled, chain oiled and it's ready to roll after at least two years in hibernation.

    Should be, err, interesting?

The good news is that our local is reopening in a few weeks, should make for interesting "extended" rides!

    Morning (just!)

Nice day again here, interview went well yesterday, annoyingly they want to do a third interview just to make sure everyone is on board. It is getting increasingly hard to get time off my current job without raising suspicion. There is only so much that can go wrong with my car/dentistry/health that requires me to be out of the office for extended periods of time!

Sounds good, they wouldn't be wasting that much time if they weren't serious. Just say 'personal issues' at your current place and they might leave you alone

Follow up from doctors appointment, something came up on your blood test they want to speak to you about, usually works I find.

Do it, sounds like they are a thoroughly deserving case. A bit like my neighbours who are slinging their hook this weekend - if they haven't I'll be grassing them up to the council on Monday as the managing agent will probably cop a big fine. Would be good after all the crap we've had to put up with and time spent over the last 6 months.

It's work work work, head home, dog sit for a couple of hours then head North for a very late drive.

  • Begorrah it's been busy round here. New dog is keeping us busy/amused/irritated at various times. Loves a lot of walks, but she's dreadful to actually take for a walk - pulls relentlessly like a train on the lead. Great personality with people, very happy to meet strangers. Terrible meeting and socialising with other dogs - doesn't get on *at all*. Chases any wildlife within 500 metres too, which is not so bad given the rabbit problem round here.

Mother went to hospital for a knee replacement Monday last week. Had complications, but came home today, so been doing a lot of visits to the hospital and now to her place (thankfully not too far). Sister has come to help for another week at least.

Work is stupid busy, mainly because they hired way too much stupid in the operations department and we are finding and fixing their mistakes all day every day.

Hardly got time to scratch.

Sorry, might become even more awkward. It would be quite funny how badly they have carried on through this whole saga if it wasn't so irritating, and yet they accuse us of being unreasonable.

All good advice (and it isn't short for Christine!)

I think the last interview is just a final check/box ticking exercise for HR. They may be able to do a Skype/phone call so should be doable! Just want to hand my notice in here to be honest but better wait!!

To be really awkward, wait until everything is finished, decorated etc and then bubble them.
You could then play the role of helpful neighbour and ask if they need a hand ripping it down.

With the money you earn Stevo, I thought you would be able to buy in a nice area, rather than bedsit land.

Hmm. A post build challenge could get awkward, what with planning appeals system giving the option of a nah, is all ok result. Example. Up our road, bloke got planning permission to build onto his semi, you know the scenario of big plot of land, build another house on the side, turn it into a mini terrace. He then built a detached (by about a foot) house. Building control missed it, too busy giving us grief about the colour of our mortar on our extension. Went to planning appeal. Inspector said, yeah you're ok, don't have to rip it down, despite blatantly ignoring your planning conditions... So I'd say shop 'em early, shop 'em often.

Needed to be nipped in the bud. Seems all you need is a house with enough bedrooms and owners who don't give a toss who they rent to. I told the agent go set up bedsits somewhere chavvy where it might actually help the area, like Staffordshire :)

It’s already virtually finished, only a week or so to go. Had a chat with their architect earlier and he was trying to placate us with different ways of making good, I’m not convinced. He doesn’t know why it’s been done and clearly wasn’t happy about it. Mentioned they wouldn’t pay for a proper building firm he recommended as this guy was cheaper. Later found out from the people the other side the bloke is very keen on cash deals and avoiding the tax man. Builder is dodgy as fook.
