Hi, I am having trouble getting a new 38T outer chainring for my Boardman team FS 2x10 FSA comet EXO.
Contacted Route 6 bike shop in Mansfield and they told me to try Halfords and wished me luck!!
Went there spent 15 mins with the guy pratting on the computer to no avail ! so question is , if I get a single ring and some longer bolts and spacers would it work as a 1x10 ? and would I be able to get spacers from anywhere .
I am a 72 yr old so not going to be doing jumps or extreme biking.
Thanks in advance.

I googled your problem and this one from wiggle came up :

I'd ask if its compatible with your FSA comet chainset but it seems to be. Or any decent LBS would be able to sort it.

Have a look at Spa Cycles site, they are touring specialists so sell chainring in every imaginable size and bolt pattern. P.S a narrow wide will not work as an outer in a double or triple setup.
  • Thanks Fenix, asked them and they are only 9 speed compatible.

Have you watched this video on the FSA website. It might help.

This looks just the thing, thanks mrfpb.
  • Up date to my first post. Halfords as we know are useless, couldn't find the part on their system even though they sell the bike! and never got back. Another bike shop never got back. Went to Sherwood Pines bike shop and they tried at first to change it to single ring for me but needed new cranks so they ordered and fitted a new FSA chainring for £35 within 24 hrs.
I was recommended to go there and can only say they are very good and pleasant to deal with.
Thanks for your help and comments.

    .........

I have always found Sherwood Pines bike shop very helpful indeed and they have always done a good job. When I crashed and broke the hose connection to the remote on my dropper, they fixed it there and then, bled and everything. They have done other "crashed on site" jobs for me with little notice, which I appreciate and would not take advantage of. Good prices too! :)
