WFH - so a chilled start, nearly went out on the fun bike again with the dog, but could do with starting work.

Later is probably a relaxed run with the wife

    Sunny, chilly breezy.

    Thoughts are with VN.

Currently testing the wet back woodburner. No leaks (yet). Bit smelly what with 6 months of dust and new fire paste.
Sauna later. Then coffee if Porker bits don't turn up.
If they do, Porker tinkering. Might even get it running!

    Laters.

  • Morning Interneteers! Rush Rush is becoming the daily motto here, after a weekend of horse racing at Chester on Saturday and the Porsche Challenge @ Brands Hatch on Sunday/Monday I'm officially still lacking in sleep.

Good job I'm going to Crete on Friday... Complete with laptop :(

Morning, Pinnos just reminded me I need to dust our burner down etc.

Pleasant enough start today wafted in avoiding children/zombies strewn across the paths an roads, apparently I agreed to go sloe picking later. Not only do I not recall this but it conflicts with my pub appointment.

Pinno, what variety of porky are you tinkering with?

    944 2.7L n/a.
    Post fire.
Wrong Fuel pressure regulator... Silly previous owner cutting corners. Had hacked screw fitting to accommodate a push fit FPR. Damn pipe to return it to screw fitting was £212 plus VAT*, New FPR £304. Ran like a bag of nails and no wonder.
...and worse: Failed O ring on above. Modern unleaded contains a percentage of Ethanol detrimental to rubber seals on older types of cars. There's been a spate of them.

*Didn't get it in the end. I had an adapter fitted.

Spliced and soldered in new bits of harness.
    Had injectors refurbed.
Had to replace vacuum pipes, throttle cable, throttle pedal, heater valve, air intake housing etc etc
    Tested all of the above.
Cleaned up engine bay. Wire dizzy'd the inlet manifoild and rocker cover. Looks peachy.
    Sorted loads of silly things.
Changed all hose clips to SS. Painted numerous brackets in matt UHT paint. Spent eleventy seven hours changing most of the bolts in and around the engine bay to SS.
Swapped bits from other 944 (donor).

Erm... you are good at stencils for spraying aren't you? Can you recommend a good type of self adhesive plastic for masking?

Seems to be one of these downstairs. New place has a free gym in the basement which is where I change & shower post commute. There's a sauna just by the showers which may be useful for warming up a bit in the winter.

    Mixed?

Onwards with the twin joys of transfer pricing and Brexit today. And dealing with silly questions from The Kingdom of Far Far Away. They had us stumped for a while as we got an email asking about our strategy for hedging South African land, which was not an obvious thing as we don't own any. Eventually twigged that they were talking about South African Rand, but clearly one of them had written it down how they had heard it from one of their colleagues in Tokyo :D

As Mr. P mentions, thoughts are with V68 today.

    Cheers chaps,
Mild hangover as is traditional on a Thursday. Dealing with the tedium and trying to look after each other is the order of the day. Sister needs to go back to Italy for a few days tomorrow night to sort some things out, have convinced the old dear to go with her to take her mind off things a little.
  • My condolences to you and yours V68

Just did an afternoon of community based stuff with the local last chance saloon college for guys and girls who are naughty or quit school pre 16 or failed all their GCSEs.

To see people who have nothing, realise that they have nothing and have been given a last chance to get sorted walk out of events, swear at each and are proud that their ambition is to be at home playing console games with no intention f very getting a jo b and intend to quit last chance saloon as soon as possible was quite sad really.

No team work, no looking after each other, no ambition, no qualms about giving #zerofucks. No manners, no eloquence. 3 out of 30 ad ambitions to get a job.

We just stood there and shook our heads slowly - only so much soft motivation you can give a bunch of people before you realise you are wasting your breath.

Be prepared to fix it yourself or shell out too much.
If you get a D reg one, I have plenty of spares :D

Go to the TIPEC forum. Lots of buying advice. Lots of other advice too. Could not have got the Porker back together without that lot. There are even cars for sale on it and probably better taken care of than others.

That is nice, and the cookie cutters look in decent nick too, always wanted an S2 or Turbo when I was younger, I wonder if I can get an extension on the garage...

S2's - expensive. Hard to find bits. So many things come up as 'NLA'.
Turbo's - expensive. Over priced for what they are.

You can pick up a clean 2.5L N/A i.r.o £5-7K. I think that is astounding value for money.

I had 'orgy' and 'swap' in my mind.

Fair point, less to go wrong without the turbo as well.
