Looking for a light cx bike preferably under 2k, any others worth looking at? TIA

Or, experiences on the cxr if you have one.

PLanet X XLS would be the obvious choice..

Probably (if it follows last years) about 8.7kg. Which is a bit more than the Boardman. Very versatile bike.

New - Focus Mares Apex 1 or Giant TCX Advanced
Second hand - SuperX, Addict or Ridley. Although I'd definitely try a Ridley before you buy as fit is marmite.

Thanks, looks like the Vitus and Planet are mail order only? (unless I went to Sheffield)

Dales in town do Giant but the TCX Advanced models they have appear to be road bikes? Maybe they just mislabelled it...

The TCX is a cross bike - and that is a TCX in the link.

Been looking at the tcx and xls myself, both come with heavy wheel sets, which would need upgrading for racing.

I thought the cx in the title was probably a clue but had to double check!

Stock seems to be a bit of an issue on it though, and the only bike that shows up searching with their filters for Carbon and cyclocross sub 2k is this one which they only have a 50 and a 56 of

although the next one up at 2199 they have a 53cm available.

So I can see this heading to halfords if I want to try the size before taking it away (my main concern with mail order).

Not necessarily. Both bikes are capable of being raced out of the box - I see plenty of both at races..

My giant xtc advanced was ready to race from new, came to life with some Stan’s crest wheels though. Had 2 sets of giant wheels, both have proved to be either badly built or rubbish

Picked up my new CXR 9.4 (2017) today - the 2019 models are just coming through but couldn't be bothered to wait (shop only had a 9.0 2019 to look at anyway).

Main new thing to get to grips with is not so mucn no left shifter but the 'Double Tap (tm)' SRAM lever.
