Langster stem angle?
Hello folks. Not sure if anyone can offer some advice.
I have a 2012 specialized langster and have been swapping the bars between road drops and tri base bars for the last couple of years.
Long story short the brake cable tension has been getting weaker so put it into shop for a service and bar swap.
I was told that I shouldn’t be putting spacers above as specialized have a special system with shims etc.
I’m now looking at putting something like a track stem on to have the right angle if I can’t use spacers. This is with the tri base bars as there isn’t an option for drops. The shop offered to cut the steerer tube down but I’d rather keep it as is in case I ever part with it.
Has anyone any similar experience? What stems do you have? I was looking at a Cinelli pista one online that looks pretty steep (angle). I’m 6ft and the bike is a large (58 I think). I prefer to be pretty low at the front. Any help appreciated!
Thanks

It's a 6/7 year old cheapish bike that you presumably aren't planning to part with in the immediate future.
Either cut the steerer or carry on as you have been doing?FFS! Harden up and grow a pair0 -
Planet X do a -17 at £8 odd that is really nicely made and light.

Thanks both.
I’ll have a look at the Planet X one as not that confident cutting down.
There’s a nice deda track one available that would go with the bar but £40.
The angles confuse me!0 -

MF bought one of the PX ones just out of interest and was very pleasantly surprised and bought two more. Now don’t get him wrong, they aren’t as nice as a Deda Super Zero or whatever but that is £60 and the PX is a tenner.
If you don’t like it just send it back

I've got a PX 35 degree 100mm stem in my spares box, which I think can be used +ve or -ve, it was an absolute godsend from 2008 to 2015 after my lower back injury. Hopefully I will never need it again to raise the front end of a bike!================

The -17 can be used +ve or -ve as well. Mega cool drop for a proper position.

Online photos show nothing unusual about the 2012 Langster stem and top cap, as long as the conical spacer below has been replaced by a suitable part and hasn't been used above (somehow....)Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
