    I suspect it's just a case of wait and see if those green thing turn up again. IMHO, they look pretty horrible but might be a bit better than the first ones. Also, I suspect they will both leak in heavy rain given that they are both only 'water resistant'. At least the second example looks to be a bit more 'rugged' and came with a supplementary protective cover which they claimed to be waterproof. The cheap Aldi / Lidl stuff definitely has it's place but there's probably a good reason why the Aldi bag cost £10 and the Ortleib £70 (or whatever). That said, I've always thought Ortleib gear a bit overpriced but can't deny that they do the job.

    Also, I'm assuming that the Aldi capacity of 1.7L is a typo - that would be a bit useless but 17L might be better.

  • Ive had a set of the Ortleib ripoffs for about 10 years - they,ve been brilliant, totally waterproof and hard wearing.
    That said, I did replace the rubbish top clips with a set of ortleibs for security - about £15 the set IIRC
