Hi

Looking up upgrade my 2015 Cannondale Synapse Sora to 105, including a full BB conversion. However my bike can only take long reach brakes.

I've replaced the stock Tekro with the R451 Tiagra level brakes and have seen that these are compatible with the 5800 shifters. However, does anyone know if they would be compatible with the new R7000 shifters? My googling has failed to find anything, probably because the R7000 are still so new.

According to Shimano's website the R451 are 'Super SLR' if that helps

Thanks.

They'll be fine. Maybe not officially compatible according to Shimano, but they'll work.

I've got BR450s on one bike and 5800 on another, and I've swapped the other components back and forth at different times and not noticed any effect of the lever on the caliper's performance.

I did improve the BR450s by fitting 5800 cartridges / inserts though.

The other thing to consider is just how long a reach do you need? The R7000 calipers may have enough adjustment...

Shimano's compat chart says they do work together, but possibly with a bit less braking force.

I know the old 5600 levers with the newer 5800calipers work astoundingly well...

That's great, thank you. MEasuring up I defintieky couldn't get away with the 105 brakes at the front, but I'm happy with the R451's if they will work. I don't do much very wet riding so can get away with it.
