Wow. I always thought MM had some learning difficulties but that is quite a lack of empathy which most psychopaths struggle to reach.

The clubbies are great, you can hitch a tow with them, they tend not to stack it into road furniture through town, take the correct racing line .

    As aptly demonstrated here.

You’re a proper cnut. What if that’s someone off here that people know?

I’ll snap your sh*t bike in half if I ever have the misfortune of bumping into you.

    No you won’t.

Returning to the question.... 9.16am...... yes, I am doing the 46 for a number of reasons including the fact that I have never, in my nearly 60 years, cycled one hundred miles in a day. Congrats to those of you who can and do. :D

If I may ask a question.... I am driving down the day before and parking my car at the hotel I am using in Romford. Has anyone any direct experience of getting a bike on the District Line directly after the ride: around 1pm I would guess (yes.... I am expecting it to take me over 3 1/2 hours....what? you could walk faster  And yes, I know that Romford isn't on the District Line!). Also, how hard are the cut off times stuck to? I am a little worried as there is one after about 30 something miles which gives me enough time to make it at my normal pace, but not if I have an issue.

    Many thanks.

You should be much quicker if you ride in a group.

TFL can be quite anal about allowing bikes on the Tube during the day so have some plan Bs. Some taxis will let you take it in.

Yeah, an event I have more experience of than you ( and most people ).
Wrong again. I have also ridden it four times and am back this year, which by my calculations means we have the same amount of experience.

Unless the experience you are talking about is in talking shite.

You are the leader in that area.

Fool!!!! Walt has done it 12 (yes twelve times) check his Strava feed.

On the tube question it looks from this map that you should be ok (which surprised me frankly), but as others have said it can be a challenge. Simply getting your bike down to the platform won't be much fun.

My experience is that the cut off times are pretty hard as they have the pro race coming through afterwards and want to clear the road.

Cut off times - I'm not sure of the distance at which they take the intermediate cut offs - that would have helped - but overall it's 8.5 hours for the 100 ? About 12mph average ?

Definitely have a Plan B re getting your bike back to Romford. Road closures that day and the number of people in London will likely mean the tubes are a lot more crowded.

    Thanks all.

I have now decided that it would easier to simply ride to Liverpool Street and get the train from their to Romford: I used to work in the City (okay, before some of you were born), so have a good idea of the route, although I have not ridden in London on open roads since 1988 so it could be quite a surprise.

As for time cuts, I was a little worried about the cut off after 24 miles but having done a couple of rides over the last few days of that distance, I had more than 40 minutes in hand each time, so it shouldn't be a problem....if it is, I am sure neutral services will be along to swap my wheels for a couple of Zipp 404's..... :-)

Looking forward to it.... I'll be the fat bloke in the Ice Cream cycling top!

Not posted since, might just have had a bit of a think about things and be giving himself a timeout. Was a pretty crude thing to say, tbh
