Hi all,
As I was cleaning my bike, I saw this spring/clip in the grass under my bike (Claude Butler Urban City Hybrid)
Each side is about 4cm long. It sort of looks like the clips in V-brakes but can't be as it's slightly smaller and they all seem in place. Just a hunch, does the front deraileur have a clip like this?
My bike brakes/gears seem to work like usual. Could just be a coincidence but would be a strange one.

It does look like the spring from calliper brakes. If your bike doesn't have them, then answer is no.0

Don't see how it could be from the brakes anyway unless you've taken off the caliper.0
