Can you imagine if the twitter army existed in 1989 where Lemond was performing like crap in the Giro, got an injection and came 2nd in the long final TT.

    This looks good. I can recall following this Tour live (back in the glory days when Irish TV showed the TdF live!). It was mind-blowing with the race leader's jersey going back and forth between LeMond and Fignon. One of the last Tours to be won sans-EPO (probably :roll: ) and the racing was incredible.

    Our house (i.e. my dad) were Fignon fans. Never warmed to Lemond.

    Was never a big fan when he was racing, but over time came to really like and admire him, especially after watching old recordings of the US coverage of the 85 and 86 Tours (I got into cycling around 89/90). They're on Youtube if you've got a spare couple of hours.
    It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

    Same here, I got to appreciate him a bit more with the benefit of hindsight, but then I cooled on him again when he went all tinfoil-hat. I did love him taking the piss out of LA in the puncture repair vids though "check for thorns, glass, shrapnel, pellets..." :-D

    I wasn't but after reading his book I started to like him. In contrast, I disliked Armstrong even more after reading Armstrong's books.

    Snap. I was cheering Fignon the whole way. Only afterwards did I warm to Lemond. I've been watching since the mid 80s.

    Phew. Was worried that this was Armstrong related.
