Cyclists in London are too white, male and middle class, says bike tsar in diversity push to stop the rise of 'Mamils'.
London's bike tsar Will Norman has vowed to diversify cycling in the city.
Isn't he make himself looking a fool by saying such things, Alright I can understand he wants to have more people cycling a balance of sexes and ethnic diversity of people using their bikes to commute or travel in London is no bad thing.
But having a dig at the middle-class white male isn't going to help is it?

I suspect the stats are proportionally similar for cyclists nationwide.

He shouldn't be stopping the rise of any demographic of cyclist, rather he should be encouraging other demographics to catch up with the higher-represented.

Did he mention quotas or are you just making that up so that you have something about which to feel hard done by?

If he works for a public body then there is a duty to promote equality and inclusion. I suspect this may have been misreported.

Tell the lazy feckers to get on their bikes.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

The barriers to greater ethnic diversity amongst cyclists are mainly from within the cultural norms of those groups. There is a problem, it shouldnt be read that mamils are the problem but rather the cultures that see Colnagos as for those who cant afford a BMW or Mercedes.

Apologies but my apostrophe key seems to have stopped working.

It happens as you get older. Or maybe your saddle needs adjusting.

but whilst the debate focuses on just why white middle aged male cyclists ride in London, no-ones asking the questions about why the programs to build more infra for everyone to use, seems to not be making as much progress these days, sure its purely coincidental
