Which of these bikes is best for commuting?

Hi all,

My Ridgeback Meteor was recently stolen so I'm looking to get a new hybrid bike. I was happy with this bike but it was a bit heavy and i'm looking for something a bit faster.

My budget is £650 and I would like to get the best specced bike for the money (substance over style

)

My shortlist based on my inexperienced search is:

If you can stretch your budget a bit this is a decent spec for the money. Hydraulic disk brakes and full carbon fork.

The only question is whether you get on with the 1x drivetrain; only one chainring up front, but a wide range cassette at the back.

It's mechanically simpler without shifting at the front, but it can make for bigger jumps between gears. How hilly is your commute?
