Help removing a spoke

Hi – I snapped a spoke last week and I’m currently trying to remove another in order to measure the exact length for the replacement. Problem is that the round spoke is turning as I turn the spoke key. I am sure that there is a way around this – but how?

    Hold the spoke with a pair of pliers.

    Although if you turn it far enough it has to stop turning or snap.

    Still turns. Do you think that Fulcrum glue or seal the spokes in the nipples?

    yhey use threadlock. it is probably a straight pull spoke and maybe propritory. measure the length with a ruler.

    If you are clamping the spoke tightly enough - just above the nipple - it won't turn. Try heating the nipple with a hair dryer to weaken the thread lock and use mole grips to grip the spoke.

    Can you not release the broken spoke - you'll have to to replace it - and measure the two parts?.

    If it's a blade rather than a spoke use a small adjustable spanner on the bladed spoke .
