Fox 40 rebound adjuster cap stuck?

Hello,

Rookie post. I recently bought a brand new fox 40 for my bike. However, when trying to access the rebound adjuster, I can’t seem to take the black cap off. I can wind it a little either way but then it seems to tighten up, too tight to unwind with just my hand.

I am really wary of not breaking anything so don’t want to push it by taking molegrips to it or something. Shouldn’t these kind of caps just unwind easily?

I would usually take an issue to a LBS but just seeing if anyone here can shed some light on my problem.

Thanks! Apologies for being a complete noob.

Here’s a picture of what my cap covering the rebound adjuster looks like: https://goo.gl/images/hFisrm

No idea what you've linked to, but it isn't a picture.

It should just pull off. No need to twist it.
