Mavic Aksium S Wheel Upgrade

Hi all,

I have one of these https://www.rutlandcycling.com/287729/products/cube-peloton-sl-red-2015-road-bike.aspx
and notice the wheels flex alot, especially when I'm climbing out the saddle. I weigh about 90kg.

Now, the bike is by no means high end - and I don't intend on buying a new one anytime soon.
Any recommendations on better wheels? I understand these are fairly light anyway so prob wont save much weight without spending lots of ££.

Budget approx. £300

    Most spoked wheels are going to flex to some extent with out-of-the-saddle riding, especially with 90kg on top of them. Unless you go for a pair of handbuilts with high spoke count, then I doubt if simply changing from one low/mid range wheelset to another is going to make much difference.

    My suggestion = accept that most wheels are going to flex to some degree or other and keep on riding.

    Weight limit does not mean 'no flex'...

    I appreciate all wheels will flex to some extent - however the first component people always recommend to upgrade is always wheels... Maybe the aksium s wheels are ok for low/mid range wheels? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mavic-aksium-s-road-wheelset-2014/rp-prod111088

    The HUNT page has an interesting paragraph:
    All HUNT wheels models have to pass our harsh cobbled-rolling-road tests for rider weight limits, please see here for more details. 100kgs is the upper recommended rider weight limit for these wheels. Please include the weight of any luggage in your total rider weight when choosing the correct wheels. If a rider is over 85Kgs then an experienced bike mechanic should check the wheel regularly and it is advisable to use minimum 25 mm tyres at max 100psi as this will reduce the fatigue on the wheelset. We are cyclists ourselves and do of course go above and beyond to offer excellent service if you ever do experience any issues. We carry full spares at very reasonable prices and offer complete support.

    If you want to buy new wheels then go for it - but don't kid yourself they are not going to flex.
