A friend has a 4 year old Fuji road bike, recently discovered that he stripped the drive side threads in his BB, the BB cup just came out with the chainset when i took it off for him.

Am i right in thinking that the YST square taper style BB's are the only type i can put back into the frame to get him back on the road?

The YST type seems to be the most common type.

You can get others to replace press-fit BBs (Praxis etc.)

What type of cranks were in it before? Octolink? HTII?

I had a stainless steel insert glued into my MTB when it happened to me. Eastside Bikes in Edinburgh did it for £75 (both sides) but I had to pay a fair bit P&P to get it to them and back. Still working great.

It had a hollowtech BB & Ultegra cranks, that's no good now if the YST is the only type available.

Might look into that steel insert though and see if i can go that route.
