Is meant to be brand new but not seen seams with a gap before and didn't want to built it up if it's going to be dangerous.

I wouldn't. It should be pinned or welded.
ps Photography hint. Don't aim you camera at a light source in a dark room when you're trying to photograph your snake, or whatever that first picture is.I don't do smileys.

Have you asked the seller, if in doubt, get refund.
I've heard cheap rims are not welded but are pinned internally but never have come in contact with one so have no idea if this is bad or not.0 -

The tension from the spokes and air pressure from the tyre should close the gap, so it shouldn't really be a problem.
Looks pretty rubbish though, if you can get a refund might be worth doing.0 -

Agree with TimW, but it’s not good. Looks like it is a pinned joint so it should hold. A bit shoddy looking though.0
