Hi guys, I’m new to road riding been a mtb rider for years, borrowed the brother in laws trek alpha a few months ago and have caught he bug.

I’m looking to get one of the following:

Giant Contend SL 2 disc.
Scott speedster 10.
Bianchi via nirone 7.

I want something that I can do high miles on fairly comfortably.

I like the giant seems a good all rounder and with discs, the Scott is super light for the money with the Shimano 105 group set. And the bianchi from what I’ve read is comfortable.

Any advice would be great

Cheers

Felix

Even if i ride Bianchi i would say that via nirone doesnt belong with the other 2 given the specs also. Giant is very comfortable bike, dont worry about it, and has disc brake, scott has better groupset but rim brakes. Its up to you the choice, but for an MTBer you will hate the cheap rim brakes

Why limit it to those? Do you have a decent bike shop near you that you could try a few out at? It's got nothing to do with the name and everything to do with how comfortable you are on it!
    Trail fun - Transition Bandit
Road - Wilier Izoard Centaur/Cube Agree C62 Disc
    Allround - Cotic Solaris
  • Just from looking those seemed the best for the money, my local bike show is a giant dealer. I’ve been looking for months. I went for the giant as I’ve sat on one and liked it
  • The Giant is good VFM, the others aren't. Plenty of alu framed bikes around with 105 at the price of the Scott. Look around and you'll find some carbon offerings at that price as well.

  • I've got two giant road bikes and really like them. Good specs and made ok. Getting the riht size of road bike is quite important so if the local shops sales giant it might be an idea to get one as they can help with size and fit.

Look on line too at places like Tredz who have a wide range and good prices. Ultimately its your choice though. Only you know what groupset and looks you prefer, and what your budget is. But, don't automatically discount manufacturers like Cube, Merida, WIlier and Specialised (Merida by another name) etc, they manufacture bikes to all tastes.
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.
  • I have the Via Nirone 7, sorry I haven't experience of the other 2 bikes. All I can add is that it is a comfortable bike and imo looks great.
