Hi

I have decided to treat myself to a new bike, I currently ride a specialized allez elite which I have had for the last 3 years. I am now cycling more signed up for the Staffs 70.3 ironman again this year and the plan is to do either Wales or Bolton full ironman in 2019. I am also looking at doing so big sportives this year (Cheshire Cat and maybe Tour of the Peaks)

I am looking at the below 2 bikes.
Giant Propel Advanced Pro 0 2017 - £2999.99

or

Giant Propel Advanced Pro 0 2018 model at £3999.99.

I am looking at buying the bike from Pedaldon and if I buy the 2018 model I can also get a set of ultrga pedals and Stages G2 6800 power meter using their podium points (basically they are free).

My question is is it worth paying the extra £1000 to get the 2018 model? Or has anyone got any other advice on a bike upto £4000.

Thanks for your time and advice.

Dom

  • I’m not going to claim I know loads about the bikes you are looking at, but aren’t you just paying £1000 extra on the 2018 model for a new paint job - albeit it looks a lot nicer than the 2017 paint job?

How much are the power meter and pedals worth?

Why don't you pop over to merlin cycles and have a look at the sensa guila 2 - or sensa guiila magic - probably save you £1k on the giants.

I love the look of the propel - but I have heard people struggle to get comfy on them.
