So, who from the "Old Guard" still rides?

I've not ridden properly for a couple of years now. Not been able to ride outside since the accident involving a 10St American Bulldog, 4 broken ribs and a collapsed lung - left hand keeps going numb. It's getting better, but it's taking it's time. Currently hitting the turbo trainer to get back into shape.

Pain I can deal with. Not knowing if my hand's going to work when I try to brake is sort of disconcerting...

Buy a European bike and just peddle backwards to brake

Have I mentioned that my knife (or cake slice) collection has grown considerably over the past couple of years?

You don't want to slice your cake.... That would smart. There's better ways to make it go down

Have you had physio for the hand? Broke my middle finger when I got doored a few years back and got specialist physio (NHS) when the pins were taken out. Will never have full movement and it's a bit wonky but it works.
  • Sorry to hear about your woes El Cap. Hope you're doing ok otherwise

I am still riding but virtually all road bike nowadays, very little on the mountain bike, 2,000 odd miles on road probably 3 outings on the mtb all of last year

    Oi oi Stu.

I rode my mtb about 5 times last year, have just sold it and may buy a road bike now. Too busy with life for riding which is a shit but very convenient excuse.

Have a bmx I use at the pump track occasionally, not sure if kids bikes count though.

Been on the road mostly since 2014, with the occasional foray on the 29er HT Cube Reaction, which funnily enough shattered my off road confidence. This replaced my trusty Whyte 46 that I wore out. I've finally found sense and offed it in favour of a brand new Whyte S-150 29er FS. It's now a case of "Yay, let's get in the woods". P1ssing down tomorrow and I've booked a day off work to go to the Marin Trail !

I want to, but don't very often.
Been buying parts to get the old Armadillo back working.

Also bought a bleed kit to get the 456c brakes to actually stop me, but have neglected to do the work.
    Maybe this weekend.
