After a full year riding on my Carrera Vengance it is now time to upgrade my forks. I'm in the market for a set of air forks and have narrowed it down to three options.

SR Suntour Raidon XC LO-R TS
£160

Rockshox Recon Silver RL Solo Air
£203

Manitou Marvel Comp
£240

I am swayed towards the Raidons simply for the price and i think they will be a massive improvement to my current XCT's, likewise any over fork in existence. I like the appeal of Rockshox and how servicable they are. The Manitou are something a little different but almost cost the same as what i paidfor the bike.

I assume stay clear of Rockshox Coil forks as an "upgrade"?

Financially i know it would make sense to put the money towards a better bike but i like my Carrera and want to see how far i can take it. 8)

Of those, I'd get the Raidons. Probably as good as the RS, probably lighter because of the aluminium stanchions (no weight given for the RS), and a basic lower leg service just needs wiper seals, which will probably take RS or just about any 32mm seal.

    Thanks for the reply.

What are your thoughts on Rockshox Silver but the coil version? I’m not overly concerned about weight 2.2kg apposed to the Raidons at 2kg. Maybe just put on and go rather than mess around with air?

The Raidon is better than the Recon silver, you may not be that concerned about weight (not sure why, a lighter bike with the same capabilities is nicer to ride).
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

    Thanks again for the replies.

I placed my order today for the SR Suntour Raidon XC LO-R TS 100mm Travel 27.5" Suspension Fork 2017. I managed to get a £10 discount code so cost me £140.

I can’t wait to see how it will feel compared with against my XCT.
