Ultegra R8000 Cable End Caps and Installation

Just a few queries regarding the cable installation for Ultegra R8000 and which cables (derailleur/brakes) use which end cap types if any.
Entering Shifters
Brake cables: No end caps
Derailleur cables: Black plastic end caps
Entering front brake
No end cap
Rear brake entering frame (internal routing
Metal end cap with tongue
Rear derailleur cable entering frame (internal routing)
Black plastic end cap
Front derailleur cable entering frame (internal routing)
Black plastic end cap
Rear brake exiting frame
Metal cap with tongue??
Entering rear brake
No end cap
Front derailleur exiting frame
Just metal wire exits on my frame
Rear derailleur exiting frame
Black plastic end cap
Entering rear derailleur
Metal cap with tongue??
Hope this makes sense. Haven't come across the tongues before and want to make sure I get it right. Can't seem to find a video that deals specifically with installing the cabling.

I'm sorry- I looked at that one too and I just found it even more confusing. It's not at all clear where to use the cap with tongues and where to use the standard caps. :?
Which is A, which is a, which is B, and finally which is b? :?:
Or am I supposed to use caps with tongues at all points? In which case why does the illustration show both?
Also what caps, if any, should be used at the lever?0 -

On another note - now that there is a cable tension adjusting screw built into the front derailleur in R8000, is there now no need for an inline adjuster?0

I still included a inline adjuster for the FD, better to be looking at it than looking for it (didn't need to use it though). The front derailleur works so sweetly. Just to note you can use outer cable for the front derailleur where it exits frame and enters FD. I did, offers a bit of extra protection also against the elements.
Tongue on entry for RD into frame.
Tongue on entry of FD into frame.
Tongue on exit of FD from frame (includes outer cable).
Make sure you use the specific cable supplied by Shimano (OT-R8000) for the exit of the RD cable out of the frame and into RD. Finally, there are specific cable end caps that are used for entry into the shifters. They have a groove on them that fits into a slot in the shifter. if you look at the pdf's in the link earlier you'll find all you need although they took a bit of time for me to familiarise myself with.0 -

I went with no cable caps on the brake cables into the shifters; and then used some end caps supplied with some Jagwire cables I had bought (I wanted green outers rather than the supplied black), for the external cabling on the frame, and no ferrules/caps into the brakes .
I'm aware of the tongue caps for the shifter cables - I've previously cabled 105 5800 shifters so was aware of the arrangement.
My frame has external cabling, and the stops on the headstock (for the derailleurs) are not threaded - just wondering if I can get away without inline barrel adjusters. Maybe, as you say, better looking at it than for it....

pprendeville - Your original description sounds about right. Just installed R8000/R9100 mix on my bike over the weekend and that's pretty much what I did, although my bike is externally routed.0

Should the front brake cable be routed inside the rear derailleur gear cable?
I didn't use the Shimano cable as I wanted green, but I did use the steel ferrule/end cap off the Shimano cable.0 -

Can't see you attached images, maybe try adding them as attachments. Otherwise I'm not sure what you mean by routed inside RD cable.0 -
