Hi, I'm looking to buy a women's mountain bike for around £500 - £600. I like the look of the Cannondale Tango 1 or the Giant Liv Tempt 2, 2017 models which are one sale right now, other options are Scott Contessa/Trek Cali/Specialized Pitch (anything Evans can sell as I can get some discount) I currently ride a Men's GT Avalanche which has always felt a little big (size M and I'm 5'7"). I'm not an expert, generally OK on medium trails (blue at LLandegla in Wales is a good guide). Just wondered if anyone has any views or opinions on these bikes as there aren't many reviews online. Any views on the Altus/Alivio components? My GT has full Deore which I can't match these days for the cost but, then again, it is the Deore of nearly 10 years ago. Cheers.

If you can get a decent men's bike within your budget, I would go down that route - the differences between men's and womens' bikes aren't really that big - my ex-girlfriend used to ride a mens' bike, and it didn't do her any harm. You could always change the saddle, which would be the only thing you would have to do.

Good luck with getting your new bike!

My girlfriend currently rides the liv tempt 2 but 2015 version, it's served her well and the spec is pretty good for what we paid (I think £400 two years ago). Would recommend it, especially if you're happy doing blues and a few reds. We are now looking to get her something with a little more travel and a bit more aggressive as her riding has come on leaps and bounds as of late. Have been looking at mens bikes also, especially Diamondback as they seen really good spec for the money, Merlin cycles currently have a few of them on sale so worth taking a look, link below is 15" frame which is probably perfect for a lot of girls between 5.3" and 5.5".

Anyway, best of luck, hope you find something you like and enjoy riding it most of all.[/url]
