Turbo Mat - Worth It?

I'm going to be using my Kickr in the spare room for the time being and ideally don't want to upset the neighbours (terraced house) so need to keep the noise down as much as possible.
Does using a rubber mat under the trainer actually do much to deaden the noise?

They dampen the noise a bit but from my experience the £5 yoga mats are just as effective as the stupidly priced 'specific' turbo mats.0

I use an old off cut from a carpet we lifted from our living room. I kept the bit under the settee as that was almost pristine.

It helps a bit, but not as much as using an turbo specific tyre over a regular road tyre. But a mat also helps catch the sweat. I sweat a lot when I’m training so I need one just for that.0

Hell yes. Not for the noise, but to protect the floor from sweat. Even with a fan I get a pool each side of bike. Apols for TMI.0

They're the perfect length, so medium bike, TACX Neo, set back from shelf, back end of turbo still on mat.

Definitely need something to protect the floor from the sweat but I was just really wondering if they made a diffrerence from a noise point of view.
You sound like me, the sweat runs off me on the turbo, even today in the garage when it was only about 1 degree.
I'll try the clip together mats, hopefully they'll do the job and it seems a better idea than spending £50 on a Wahoo mat.0 -

I have some in the garage where my turbo and rollers are. Personally, I don't rate them as they eventually start rising creating raised areas.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0 -
You'd be better off with a couple of cheap gym mats. The branded ones are stupid money. Surely the interlocking tiles leave space for sweat to run through?0

I bought 2 very cheap yoga mats.
I lay one down as normal to catch the perspiration. Then Ive folded the other mat up and placed it under the turbo trainer. With this combination Ive 3 layers of rubber matting under the turbo trainer.
