Anyone know any good traffic free trails suitable for family ride, kids 5 and 7 can go for about 6 miles if fairly flat and easy going.
Looking for somewhere around Sunderland, Ashington, Seahouses, Witley Bay areas but must be off road no traffic.

Went to Kielder Forest other day they enjoyed that nice gentle trails for the kids but a long drive to get there, but if you are near by worth a visit. Didn't get chance to try other more adventurous routes with kids in tow.

Thanks.

Dunno about specific routes but I've found that generally most of the roads around Seahouses, especially the "back roads" are quiet and flat. Main issue perhaps is wind and the odd car speeding around narrow lanes
  • You can ride along the river from Newburn to Wylam and then on to Prudhoe. It's mostly flat just one very short steep bit. Also has play areas at Newburn and Prudhoe which can come in handy. Plenty of parking next to Newburn leisure centre.

Sustrans Route 1 might be worth looking at, see https://www.sustrans.org.uk/ncn/map
