Hydraulic caliper compatibility question
I have bought a second hand set of Shimano ST-RS685 shifters to convert my mechanical disc setup with hydraulic.
I need a set of post mount calipers to go with the shifters and would appreciate advice on what compatibility issues there could be. Can I use any set of Shimano post mount calipers or are there factors that make some models incompatible? Is there a material difference between calipers that are sold for MTB rather than road?

The Shimano compatibility chart shows that your ST-RS685's are compatible with BR-RS785 and BR-R785 post mount brake calipers.

I read a post on here a few weeks back where some one asked if Shimano Road and MTB calipers were interchangeable, as they were unable to source a direct replacement Road model caliper. I think they successfully fitted an MTB caliper, though can't recall the details of the models involved.0
