"Misting" Brakes

Hi there,
My brake pads are continually becoming contaminated. I clean the pads/rotor and put them back in an they keep coming out covered in grime with no power. I have been told this could be down to dirt trapped in the gaps of the brake rotor but I have thoroughly cleaned it twice. Another possibility I have been told about is that my brakes are "misting". I think this is when there is a leak and the oil goes onto the rotor every time you pull the rotor. This sounds highly likley. Does anyone know how to diagnose this or how to fix this? Thanks

What are you cleaning them with?
Most brake problems are caused by unnecessary faffing.I don't do smileys.

If a contaminant has soaked into the porous pad material, what are you doing to get it out?Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

You need to take out the pads and rotate them 180 deg and replace so that the 'backing' on the pad comes in to contact with the disk....take your pickelf on your holibobs....

Put new pads on it. Stop cleaning the disks, there's no point, the pads friction will keep them conditioned.0

Confusing the issue with different threads and not including all the information in one thread on it's own was going to get it resolved quicker was it? Really?

Anyway problem solved and confirmation from the bike shop of a blown seal. Aka misting Brakes. Anyway, new one is on the list.0
