Woke up and went from sending a few texts to ferkin FaceTime with my pal in the states. One day we will both be sober on a call :)

Today is collect the car from town - probably ride rather than run

Then family time finishing off the kids den and then chainsaw fun

Later is the local with friends

Also chainsaw time plus experience first play with powered log-splitter, lay in the winter stocks, while contemplating winter fitness regime.

Wake up call yesterday. Hadn't done much through October bar local pottering and a few TT sessions because of stuff, last proper ride was last day September, an enjoyable lumpy 80k, cruised it. 4 weeks later yesterday's flatter 60k was 'kin hard. Fitness levels drop off faster and further than I expected. This must cease.

Had a decent lie in and now it's time for some jobs, which should be fun with my knackered shoulder. May need to skimp on a few things.

Will also need to work out whether I can still ride a bike next week.

You can look in the mirror for a laugh :D

Toots with me. They seem to be happy and settled. Cat has forgiven me for buying the wrong dry food having replaced it with IAMS. I can now live with myself. Beef casserole tonight.

    It's dull and 'orrible again.

    Laters.

Have you knacked yourself with the downhill stuff now?

Wedding presents arrive today, so it's out with the old and in with the new. Weeded and swept the front garden. Contemplating final grass cut of 2017. I expect several trips to the tip & charity shop.

    Morning folks,
Managed my traditional slow start which was good, now having muffins (English) with another cup of tea. Few odd jobs to do but not too much. Thanks for all the kind thoughts, it was better news than we expected in some ways, we knew it wouldn't be good unfortunately.
Hopper beware the Oxfam shop in Wimbledon Village, my mother helps out in there. Although she probably won't be there today.
Bally, spoke to the lad and he reckons Queenstown is rammed and very expensive at Christmas because a lot of Kiwis go there. Asked him to see if he could find out about any good alternatives.

Cheers for that VN. She has managed to book into 3 different hostels to cover the Xmas period but I think the last one which takes her into the new year may have been a last resort and she may be travelling out towards Milford Sound. That should save her some cash over the new year piss-up season if nothing else.

Another inactive day years before me but I have the house to myself. Woohoo!

For now - occupational hazard of downhill. It'll heal by time I need to go again.

On the plus side I got to chat with Manon Carpenter whom is a lovely lass and very down to earth. BBC were doing an article on her retirement from DH racing and doing some footage of her riding the run where I stacked it.

True. Some combination of pain killers and booze will be needed this evening.

Special purgatory for me this evening. Forced to accompany the boy to his rugby club do. I mean, I played the game for 15 years, but bloody hell, it's the same bores propping up the bar drinking piss weak beer from tankards with their name on. Still, some of their wives are wearing skimpy Halloween costumes.
