biggish bag on road bike.

Anyone using a biggish bag(i.e. 5 litres or more) on road bike? The saddle pack along with jersey pockets is ok but i like more space for longer spins for rain jacket sandwiches etc.) For example the oldfashioned Carradice saddlebag ( e.g Barley)

    I use the Carradice Barley and the Camper Longflap on a couple of my road bikes.

    I use the pendle (9 ltre) or zipped tool roll (2 litres) and I am happy with both. I have a bagman frame for the pendle which is very sturdy. No wobble issues at all. The tool roll is quite big and may suit your needs. As it's wide rather than deep, everything is accessible when you open it up .

    I have the Carradice super C slim SQR bag on my commuting bike (norco indie drop) and it's been excellent - although it might be a bit bigger than you want at about 16 litres...

    Remember to add a litre each for the pockets (when they have them). They quote sizes for the main compartment.

    Plenty of bikepacking bags out there are fine for use on road bikes. The large saddle bags do tend to caution against using with carbon seatposts, though.

    I've used a Blackburn outpost saddle bag (10l) on my carbon bike on a few longer audax rides with no problems, although I wasn't using it at anywhere near full capacity.

    I've been using a Carradice Super C saddlebag for commuting for a while now. Much better solution than panniers when you don't need to carry much. However I'd definitely get one of these if I was buying now:

    Comes in up to 15 litre size which would be big enough to tour with, but also in a slightly more sensible 6 litre for your sandwiches and rain jackets!

    I used to stick this monstrosity on my road bike to take my lunch/supplies to work and back! Actually it was a very good bag being totally waterproof and the end rolls up smaller if you have less stuff inside.

    I use a Bridge Street Medium Bag on my bike:

    It works well for me, is completely waterproof and much lighter than the traditional bags.
