rides cafes shop

may listen to stations of the crass later, or savage republic, or hawkwind, though it's hard to get shouldn't do that loud enough without imminent sonic destruction, but this would be a price worth paying

Carnage in the house as after one party finished we had another yesterday

Should really tidy it up but need to get the stuff I bought yesterday on the bike before the current wife notices it :)

Nice ride over to watch the eldest play football (if the wife is in a state to drive) later is party v2 next door then over to some friends to make cider
  • If your training has gone mostly according to plan, this should be the day of the month that you're MOST tired

    Need caffeine
I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles

Bloody knackered, didn't realise that was because my training had gone to plan. I thought it was because the chain broke on my pub hack riding home from a pub in Raynes Park. This meant a bit of a walk before locking the bike and jumping on a bus. Missed the excitement at the pub, apparently the landlord accused one of my mates of not having bought any drinks and hit him. Odd because he bought two rounds as I recall.
Lad got in at 4am and was staggering about making loads of noise. We had asked him not to be too late as the EPO's family are descending on us for his birthday celebrations. His punishment will be acting as a climbing frame for overactive toddlers to help his hangover.
Lovely and sunny out at least. Should go and rescue the pub hack at some point.
Good luck Oxo. I wonder if Hopper survived with his trousers intact.

Stropteen's 16th today (also happy birthday to V98).

I am hoping for slightly less stropiness and teen-ness today after giving her some pressies this morning. Dinner out later on to celebrate at some Indian street food restaurant. That will make two lots of Indian food on the trot so someone may get gassed tonight :)

Much brighter that forecast, going to head over to Innerleithen for proper bikes. GF is terrified because one of our friends had a nasty crash a month ago and is still in hospital, not sure why that means I can't ride...

    Of course, happy birthday Stropteen.
Lad has been woken, probably feels like a younger of Hcubed in terms of hangover. He claims he's alright but looks like he's suffering St Vitus dance.

nippy start then turned into a warmer sunnier ride than most of the uk 'summer'

energy bar plus cake, toast, samosa, still not enough to put back the calories, time for pineapple

  • Lazy morning. Went to hardware store and picked up a few things for later... then coffee and a snooze by the pool. Even got in for a trial, but still a little er, cool.

Dug a hole or two this afternoon ready to fill with concrete tomorrow.

That was lovely out this morning, 3 hour ride, sunshine, and actually felt warm. Lots of riders out, most of them faster than me of course, but who cares.

Reasonable weather too. Was it last year it lashed it down almost constantly for the whole duration?

Amazes me that every year they just start closing roads when the feel like it at 4am. Not ideal when you're piloting a bus full of ale junkies.

Got home from the night shift and took the mutt for a decent stretch on deserted territory, then bedded down for a good few hours, then shopping and batch cooking for the week. Off to work later by bike, so that's todays action.

    ...having a Pastis.

mmm, pastis, raki, absinthe, a fine category

in the background is bbc news german election with the sound off, the "we're afd, not national socialists, nein nein nein, nicht at all, honest, ein volk, ein reich, ein führer, ach, mein gott, nein, nein, kartoffelkopf, nicht meanen that" afd woman is making trumpian hand gestures, doesn't bode well

anyway, back to the absinthe, you can see it makes sense
