I'm facing another couple of months of cancer treatement basically
sat on the sofa a lot and it's boring.

So having just bought an Xbox 1 S I'm looking for recommendations
of games to kill some time.

My previous gaming stopped at Doom 3 and Call of Duty Modern Warefare.

Ideally what I'm looking for is a mixture of interesting maps to explore,
some thinking plus a reasonable level of mindless violence.

The Chemo is gradually rotting my brain so pure reaction time stuff is no good.

So is there any of the modern stuff you would recommend.

Cheers
Steve

  • Most of the new COD are entertaining, if not COD3 level. So, both infinite and advanced warfare will keep you going for a bit. Battlefield 1 is excellent.

Destiny 2 is very good. Far Cry Primal has massive maps and is a bit different.

Get EA Access for a year and you'll get about 20 games there. Gold will rotate stuff every few weeks. And the Xbox Games pass (7.99) will get you loads too, cancel that one when you're bored. Deffo get EA access though

  • Here is a few

    SOMA
    The Evil Within
    Doom
    Titanfall 2
    Fallout 4
    Prey

If you fancy some old stuff don't forget to look at the xbox 360 backwards compatibility list and see what you can play on the One.

Googled EA and that sounds like a good deal. Is it like they say? You get access to all the games listed no problems other than the download?
  • im sure you must be able to get it on XBOX but i have World of Tanks on the PS4 that im currently addicted to, free download and to play unless you want to buy success. Game play is kind of like COD online - 15 minute games 2 teams of tanks.

Yep. Exactly what it says on the tin. £19.99 one off payment, access to the listed games. They're a good mix and there are a load of 360 games in there too. I've just extended ours today for another year. Bought the code from Amazon, redeemed it on the Xbox store. Sometimes you need to restart the Xbox for it to take effect.

  • BTW, Titanfall 2 is on there now, I think. It's great. A proper campaign whereas the original was simply multi player.

Latest Hitman is good; like a puzzle.

Levels can be downloaded individually and are massive.

Lots of scope for replay and having fun.

    Fallout 4
    Far Cry is solid too
    Mate is loving Destiny 2

Personal favourite for mindless violence and map running - Middle Earth shadow of modor (prob cheap v cheap these days)

Shooters can be annoying if you feel like your reactions are on point. The SP campaigns are often lacking these days and the MP needs you to be sharp to avoid a beating.

Overwatch is a MP shooter worth a try, even with my previous statement - free this weekend too

I'll add Ghost recon: Wildlands to the list. So much to do!
