Stage 20: Corvera de Asturias - Alto de l'Angliru 117.5KM

The race reaches it's grand finale with 45kms of blood, sweat and no doubt a few tears.
First off the weather forecast is WET.

  • Downhill finish, don't know what all the fuss is about ;)
  • Amazingly I have the day off. The stars must have aligned or something.

    This looks good to me

    Contador's last chance for glory

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone.
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

The greatest tribute a champion can have bestowed upon him:

(Personally I reckon there's at least a 50% chance he'll ride again next year)

Dream scenario: Contador and Froome attack and ride away together. Froome takes the title and Contador does enough to get on the podium, plus takes the stage win.

I'm have to work on intensive care today but hoping it get done in time to catch the final ascent.

I think Froome and sky will have enough and does Nibal have enough left int this tank to drop Froome for 1.40?

Multiple climbs, short stage and wet make it very interesting.

Dream finish..... Froome and Berti neck and neck on the run in for the stage, Froome moves over, Berti takes the stage, the glory, the crowd goes wild. Thanks for the memories......
'Performance analysis and Froome not being clean was a media driven story. I haven’t heard one guy in the peloton say a negative thing about Froome, and I haven’t heard a single person in the peloton suggest Froome isn’t clean.' TSP

Finish line too steep for this but... as above, in final metres the pair shake hands then Bertie edges across the line first; internet then spends next three years arguing if Bertie won, or if he was gifted the win.

With all the fake back patting and hand holding, a la Lemond and Hinault.
I'm with Rich in thinking he'll be back next year.

I'd like to think so, wasn't his decision forced by him not getting a decent offer from Trek? I know he hasn't looked like winning a grand tour this year but he's shown he has enough to compete for a Giro or Vuelta if things go his way and nobody has been more visible in this race than him.

He's been riding as if he is in the shop window.
Depends how much cash he wants, but some teams are bound to be interested.

I think the top ramps of the Cordal will be where he kicks off today's party piece.

I'd been wondering if you had recently joined the fan club.

He's a short priced favourite for today, but I don't think it will happen.

Yeah, frenetic climbing lights up races and embed salient memories. Strictly tens for his style.

It's raining heavily at the start. Sizeable headwind on the final climb.

Seems I can't log into the player either.

Not that I need it with Sporza and ES on the tv.

A lot of climbing power in the break away group. Trek working hard on the front of the peloton to keep the gap down to one minute.
  • Unbelievable, the one time I got finished early with less patients to see, rush home to watch and find Eurosport player isn't working ffs!!!!
  • ES is working fine on Kodi.
