Replacing shimano RS785 caliper

Having a bit of a nightmare with my front shimano BR-RS785 caliper. Bike is about 18 months old and problem started a couple of months ago. Front braking results in squealing and braking power is non existent. Tried everything - cleaning with meths, replacing pads, bled dismantled and replaced fluid transfer port o-ring - all good for a few days, bike stops on a sixpence, but a few days later same problem returns. So I reckon the the piston seals must be leaking oil which means a new caliper. Apparently a fairly common problem with Shimano hydraulics and something I've never seen with the Avid hydraulics on my MTBs. To make things worse, the RS785 caliper seems to be a bit hard to come by at the moment. Fitting is post mount with threaded hose attachment. Do I have any other off the shelf replacement options?

    XT M785 claiper is the same thing. Get a warranty replacement. madison did mine again.

    The M785 is hard to find too, I replaced my rear with a T675 caliper which has the same hose fitting, although the pads aren't the same

    Malcolm, am I likely to get a warranty replacement on a part that is 18 months old? Mine came as OEM on a Pinnacle from Evans. Do i try Evans or go direct to Madison? Thanks.

    Yes, thats the one, couldn't find one in black for you though. With my RS685 shifters, I always had a long lever travel until I fitted this caliper, and its shortened it up nicely. Pads are cheap as well.

    warranty is 2 years. proof of prucahse is normally required. Contact evans they should deal with this for you. you only go to madision direct if evans refuse to help, which they cant they are the retailer.

    Otherwise go to a shop with a madison account and they will be able to help. you have to pay for the refitting though and postage but that better than no help at all.

    Thanks for the advice - spoke to Evans and they said should be sorted under warranty so booked in next week.
