I honestly can't see what the fuss is about - Rolf or C4.
I get tired of the holier than thou race to the bottom of the politically correct barrel. It does irritate me that some deranged baroness in the House of Lords (in article and programme) thinks it's OK to label me a racist because I have a specific taste in female beauty. And I dislike being labelled a white racist by someone by whose own standards could be labelled a black racist (the lass presenting the programme). I wonder where this is all leading to.
But mainly it seemed like the basis for a fun thread!

As a white man who has just been labelled, I am not sure if this makes me an oppressor, or a victim. :?

If you subscribe to this world view, then as a white man it is not possible for you to be the victim. It is quite disgusting.

I'd suggest it's fairly unlikely you are, and that, even if you are, the injustices you suffer are likely to be smaller than if you weren't a white man in the UK.

So i'll play to likelihood on that one.

I'm sure it doesn't help too that the group they chose did not seem representative of the public, I know people are thick, but how can any representative randomly selected group contain so many air-heads and pouting selfie takers?

I think the problem may be that they are the only type of people willing to appear on TV talking about themselves on such a subject. I doubt more thoughtful introverted personalities are keen to get involved, probably could say the same about a lot of television involving the general public and it's likely what the program makers prefer anyway.

Just to be clear, they hadn't been told that racism and dating was the specific subject matter. All the tests were supposedly of relatively vague purpose though you'd think they'd catch on when they had a load of models of diverse races (of both sexes) paraded in front of them wearing next to nothing and asked to rate them.

Yes, they hadn't been told, I was gonna reply the same.

Thinking about it perhaps that's the reason they needed thick people, so none of them worked out what it was about.

Labelling everyone as racist isn't particularly helpful because it diminishes the impact of actual discrimination and to some extent suggests people can't help it. On the other hand I think it is useful to recognise that we all have prejudices (whether we choose to admit them or not) and be aware that these will influence our judgement, sometimes negatively.

As regards who you are attracted to, either someone does it for you or they don't, sometimes in spite of one's prejudices or professed preferences.

I have almost zero sexual interest in dark skinned women, but really really like white women........... But not too white, and rarely ginger hair.

Japanese women can be really cute, but generally I only find western women sexually attractive.

Sexual attraction and finding someone attractive are two different things for me too.

I don't really care what that makes me.

Well, you could. Could just say what a load of total bollox and get on with your life, in whatever direction that takes you.
  • You could use the same argument with regard to gender.
I'm a guy and I only fancy girls, does that mean I'm homophobic?

No. You have a lot in common with lesbians.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

If two guys start snogging right next to you in a bar and you leave, or you wince at gay (man on man) sex scenes in a movie, then no.

You are a normal heterosexual male and don't worry about it.

If you projectile vomit spuriously when you realise that something you are eating was made by Alan Carr, then maybe you are.

Lesbians I know are always moaning about camp gay guys.

Black guys I knew were always moaning about characteristics of black guys from different black countries.

I believe him. People moan about everybody.
Lazy, fat, disabled, too tall, too short, smelly, aggressive males, women drivers, immigrants, religious loonies, slow, in a rush, entitled, greedy, selfish, bald, speccy, deaf, loud, scroungers, selfish...
And some of the most racist comments I have heard were about Eastern people from black guys.

    Oh FFS.

I'm not asking whether you thought it was the truth or not, I'm shocked anyone can think that's an observation worth mentioning.

Is it a surprise that black people don't refer to themselves as one whole group?

    ^^ you're both morons.

Some could take offence at that.
Is being offensive a one way street?

If you think racism is just about offence, and equivalent to a few insults, then yes, you're an idiot.

At what point did I use the word "just".
There is only one person on this thread being offensive.

Guess I must be abnormal then. I can't for the life of me understand why some people are so squeamish about normal human behaviour. No-one is saying you have to be aroused by it. I mean it's only two people kissing in a bar for crying out loud; it's not as if it's for your benefit. Maybe the sex scene in the film is part of a story rather than just being there as a bit of soft porn.

It's confusing to you because you're being reasonable. As I said, it's ideological.

If someone says that you're racist because you fancy women dark/light skinned women less/more than the other, then they are redefining the word racism, they most likely have an agenda, and they are being ar$£holes.

Part of the story lol, get real.

Talking of getting real in sex scenes, have you ever been to bed with a woman that covers her boobs afterwards/in the morning

Well, guys know how they feel about seeing two guys at it, regardless of what they say on here.
    I have just been honest.

Funny how you abuse my feelings (feelings are something you cannot deny) yet are so 'right on' about a guy feeling he wants to jump another guy.

I did not ask you to 'understand' anything, I just ask you to accept it.
I do not understand how you could want to get it on with another guy, but I accept it.
I think that makes me better than you
