Morning folks,
Nose back to the grindstone after a heavy weekend. Immediate manager is back after a couple of weeks of peace and quiet, should be back to 14 cups of tea a day then. Really should start to say no to a few of the cups offered. Rather weary this morning to remind me that I can't stand the pace any more.

Visit to the doc, to be told some numbers are up, some are down, but none of it matters much. Sent off tomorrow to get more X-rays done though.

I haven't told her yet - she's still dozing. We've known the parents for the last 6 months - it's been tough to watch them lapse from desperation and worry into depression. It must also be incredibly tough for the parents of the other person as they still have this to come.

Keeping on the sad note - chap at work whose son died some weeks back was back in the office today. Gave me a big sweaty hug as I'd written him a short note (having been through the same 2 years ago) and put it in a condolence card. Not a good look, 2 middle aged blokes blubbering slightly in a changing room.

Thank you. And well done on the hug - we should do more of that. Fearne Cotton's dad, Mick, (and Fearne herself) was fabulous during Charlie's treatment even though I'd never met him. When I finally did, I gave him a nice bottle of scotch and a hug and we both sobbed like babies. Good advice indeed MRS. I've told the kids much the same. Whilst the girl is still very limited in what she can do we are trying to maintain a school/fun balance for her. If school suffers occasionally in order to keep her spirits up it's a price worth paying. The lad having been working really hard for his A levels is now off for a year and should have the time of his life. I actually came back to work here and took a cut in pay whilst still on chemo to improve my work/life balance, happy to say it has worked.
Now on that note, I need to buy a rattly old bike and do the Eroica next year for my 50th. Should probably get fitter too.0 -

IT cock ups galore, some moron migrated the ENTIRE sharepoint estate over the weekend an didn't think to let anyone know it was happening. Failed horribly so the business has ground to a halt.
Aircon has good meh today so my little USB fan is being abused (cold drink behind fan, instant cold air).
Lets are not happy decided to double fondo over the weekend, ended up doing about 230K. Driving is interesting to say the least.

I blame the GF but I'd been passingly mentioning getting a dog for ages, then the GF decides she's going to make me drive to Aberdeen on the last weekend of her 8 months of unemployment to get one. I look after him all week at work, and most of the time on the weekend then the occasional weekend I can't take him with me she acts as if I'm being a total d1ck. Luckily he is a total dude and doesn't mind sleeping in the back of the truck when he has to0 -

Its nothing like the breed we planned but its an American Bulldog crossed with a Pitbull Terrier, so a Bullypit apparently. Shes got her first puppy teeth through now so everything is mouthed. Doubt she will most look more Pit than anything, just same build as an American Bulldog,
Temperament wise both parents are very laid back, puppies were all socialised with kids so that's a big plus.
Second jabs next week so walks start along with some basic command training.0 -
