Wfh - so I was meant to go for a run but thought I would spend time with the family. I now know why I leave before they get up

Office day, p1ssing it down here. Saw some trees yesterday so I'm happy again, I was out with one of the directors so I hopefully he will relay my grievances to the rest of the board. Supposed to be having a conference call with our London based overlords but they are all flapping about something so it's been postponed, shame as it's always nice to drink a coffee and not contribute for an hour...

Climbing again tonight, my elbow is starting to fall off though which is unfortunate

I thought you said you were giving up that nonsense after doing some event a week or so ago.
    Morning folks,
Not so sunny in cloudy and moist Hanworth today. Out for beer and curry with the branch managers and some of the bosses tonight. Bloody phone is ringing, how do I make it stop without talking to anyone? That did it, ignore it and it goes away. Work avoidance is the order of the day. Oh, ballcocks! Now there's a flashing light to tell me I have a message. I might have to do something about that. There's a sequence of buttons I can press to make the light go out without listening to the message. Might go and make a coffee now.

Maybe this 'ultra' will fulfil the intention. Unless it's actually two laps around the Jacket potato van.

Do they still have jacket potato vans? I haven't seen one since approx. 1991.

You have never been to Birmingham?! Dudley high street is littered with them. If you want posh, go to 'Solly' (Solihull). You can get a Jacket potato with Coleslaw in Solly.

Remember I'm a Midlands lad, I worked in Brum for 2 years, 1999-2001, never saw a jacket potato van, but I wasn't looking. Solihull is well posh, not surprised you can get a spud with coleslaw there. The last time I saw a spud van, it was in Coventry. I don't think I've eaten a jacket potato at all since the 1990's.

Might get a pack of spuds later. Loads of butter and grated cheese. Bit of that Encona West Indian hot pepper sauce.

Due to working near the van at least twice a week and having a pub pal with a potato farm - I eat a lot of jp's

Many, many moons ago the then council subsidised bus fares which meant you could travel anywhere in the west midlands for 2p.

    I sh1t you not.

Which meant for school averse individual's we could travel from Wolverhampton to Birmingham using the 79 bus to buy freshly made doughnuts from the bullring. A favourite pastime while on the upper deck was to place a bag over the periscope window which the driver used to check on the user deck, jam a pencil in the latch of the rear window which meant the alarm wouldn't go off and then open up the window and egg anyone we didn't like the look of as we went past.

One of the smells of my childhood is freshly made doughnuts :D

Maybe - I really enjoyed the marathon, but maybe because I've spent year mountain biking in the woods and remembered a lot of bits

I remember this too! Never went to the Bullring for doughnuts though, I was probably a bit young. I do remember buying those WMPTE travel card things where you rubbed the date off with a coin, and you could travel anywhere on the train. We used to go to Beatties in the Palisades above New St station and gawp at the remote controlled cars and model railways.

ah, the days of proper bakers

used to be one between eaton square and victoria, the very thought of it is making me giddy with memories of cakes and crusty rolls, plus they sold walters crisps (NOT walkers) which may have been the world's best potato-based snacks ever

Lunch was cod, chips & mushy peas with lashings of vinegar and salt. Lovely fish & chip restaurant up the other side of Barbican. 20 min wander back to the office along the Barbican skyways, very pleasant. It's going to p!ss down shortly though...

Busy day today, with lots of random stuff coming in to annoy me. At least I avoided us getting dividend stripped :) My plan to pedal home being held to ransom by the crappy weather. May defer till tomorrow as I have only shorts and a short sleeved top to ride in.

Pi$$ed down all day. It's pi$$ing down now. What's it like over there Gazza?

I can only presume that the elder brethren are remembering that age scale with sentiment and web searches for Viagra. I say this 'cos it's all gone quite.
