    Morning

Managed to get to the pub after the kids show, rang through the food order on the way and enjoyed the cider :) thankfully they don't care about the kids being in there after 9

Today is a reasonable run and then a few jobs. Later is take the kids to some trampoline park ferkin miles away and dinner at friends on the way back

    Morning saddle sniffers!

Ride first then a trip to a physio cos I pulled something running. Doesn't affect cycling though so that's good.

Shopping later as I'm off to sunny Spain on Saturday.

    Have fun you orrible lot!

Pah, June and the lurgy is back. Last week's heavy legs have morphed into zero energy and full on Lemsip. Symptoms go well with a 2 y.o. at full volume 2 feet away from one's ear. Man cave beckons. No bike today. Boxxox to it all.

Still sunshine here - pile of kit growing ever bigger but nearly there I think.

May set up front mech on cx bike and do initial trim of steerer then put everything away as I'm not allowed to ride, but let's see what physio and first specialist say Monday and Tuesday.

It has come to my attention that quite a number of people continue to mention running as if it is some badge of honour. Now I don't give a monkey's fook if you get a condensed cardio work out in a shorter space of time, or that you may be rubber necking or you just think simply that you are clever.
It's not clever as running seems to always result in some form of injury. That's because running is not good for you. Running also gives you a frowny face that puts roadies to shame and it always looks like too much effort, a chore and deaf. Yes deaf. Deaf to the point that you seem to cross the road with absolutely no concern for your own welfare. I've tried my best to run them over and save them from the shame of 'suicide' on the death certificate because it's obvious that they have these masochistic tendencies but alas no runners have been injured in the making of this post. It also vexes me that their movements are unpredictable and random which makes it especially difficult to run them over cleanly.

So in an effort to prevent injury and the constant earache of the injured, I am asking you to desist from any mention of the r word and would kindly ask patrons of this very trivial yet dangerous pursuit to jog off to some other forum where you can discuss metatarsal complications, ham string tension, compromised cortisone production and tyre marks across your foreheads (in certain situations) with like minded lunatics intent on injuring and attempting to kill themselves on a regular basis.

When I become Prime Minister, I will make it illegal for anyone over 60kg's to go running and those that are will be restricted to short sprints under the watchful eye of psychiatrists in discreet indoor locations. I cannot stand all that heavy breathing, sweat, laboured movements and the general disposition of pained facial expressions.
Why is it that people who are big boned or fat and far too heavy to run more than 100 yards persist? Why don't they see Mo Farrah as a lightweight lythe human and make the correlation between body weight and the distance one aspires to run?
I can only presume it's because they are plain stupid. 99% of the population* no longer have the physical frame akin to Bushmen of the Kalahari and are therefore not built for running.

*My studies have only been conducted on Western populations through general observation, bloody mindedness and prejudice however, the merit and authenticity of such conclusions cannot be contradicted.

    That's you lot told.

    Back OT:

Me on toots watch me. Bah. They have set up shop except the shop is getting bigger and is starting to burgeon under the weight of general and random household goods. It might take me a while to sort the mess.

    This.

Running sucks. Don't do it - God created the bicycle and FireBlades so we don't have to run.

Running is like krocodil: it always seems like a good idea at the time but will end up going really badly wrong.

In the words of Zammo: running, just say no.

Pinno, at times you are so misguided in your opinions. The reason we old overweight crocks run is because a lot of the female gender are a lot younger and look pretty hot in tight lycra and have jiggly Boobs. Therefore we will continue to run and be perverts every saturday morning. As to injuries, i have been injured far more times on my bike than running.

Pinno is right to some extent. Unathletic people running, even if they're physically fit, look like they are hurting themselves, knees, feet, hips and ankles all over the shop, and the number of physios and osteopaths would suggest they are getting injured. Athletic people make it look easy. Also different builds, I was always a demon over 100 and 200m when I was young, but trying to grind out a half marathon just hurts.

Mind you, I look like a sack of spuds in lycra perched on a saddle when I ride my bike; no flat back, no souplesse. I still ride as much as I can though. Only injure myself when I fall off though, not via the exercise itself.

Norks though, that's what should get everyone out exercising. Norks and @rses.

My whole post was gender specific. You'll have to explain why you can't pedal by them on more than one occasion to get a view from all angles.

Yup - Miss MRS took it quite badly. Mind you, she was feeling pretty ill too and they took three attempts (and lots of blood and pain) to get a cannula into her (having only just taken a cannula out....). She looks like a crack junkie this morning - esp as she has very few platelets.

Thank. No effing chance of running. Stairs, and lots of them, is my only fitness regime right now.

Why not ask for a PICC line to be fitted MRS? I had 57 cannula's in 7 weeks (high dose intravenous steroids) following removal of my Hickman line until it became impossible to the point they thought about putting cannula's in my feet.
It's the alternative to a Hickman line if a Hickman line is not necessary.
In the long term and hopefully when she is through the worst of it, the veins become deeply hard from repetitive use of cannulas and are hard to get a needle in just for blood samples - which may go on for a long time after.
PICC lines are far kinder than endless Cannula's and apart from a little bit of discomfort on insertion and removal, are painless and semi-permanent. From a sheer invasion of the body that repetitive cannula insertion causes, there are obvious and clear benefits to PICC lines.

Yes, when they fitted my first Hickman line, the whole left hand side of my body went shades of deep blue to purple to brown.

Went for a run ( it's ok pinno I'm sub 60kgs and I was in a car, real car, ish) to ikea land, not been to that strange country for at least 15 years on the way there an Isetta pulled out so we had to follow it, I have never seen another Isetta on the road and have never seen what they look like going round roundabouts, slingshot or what! Apparently I'm told that's exactly how I drive, well you can't afford to lose momentum!:D

They took her PICC line out which was a real shame because it worked brilliantly. But it was identified (more by elimination) as the source of her constant low-grade infections so it had to go. She is going to get a triple Hickman but they only want to fit it immediately before her conditioning chemo to minimise the risk of it harbouring an infection. Charlie had a Hickman that was brilliant. Eve will possibly look a bit of a mess with it because of her low platelets.
