Dry Verge

I know there are a couple of posters on here who've renovated houses and I'm sure there are others who know their stuff.

We have an end terrace house and the mortar (or wet verge) has deteriorated to a point in which it needs replacing. I'm probably looking at replacing the fascias too and in looking into that have stumbled upon Dry Verge. Having noticed it, most houses in our estate seem to be clad with it and tbh I don't mind how it looks...until it's old and weathered. But by then it probably needs replacing anyway.

So which is better, re-pointing mortar or dry verge?
