Hello, Bossnut has a failed rear shox, I can buy a reduced Fox CRD shox new for the price of having the Sram Monarch R serviced. But will it be a straight swap out?

Nope all different sizes. The two Trek specific ones won't fit, AFAIK, as they have a different mounting system. The pretty gold one is out of stock, so as long as your length is around 184/185mm, and the stroke is about 44 or 45mm. It should fit. Whether it's the right tune is anyone's guess.

Cheers, I did think it would be like that. Its only to replace the Sram Monarch R. Think it would be safer to upgrade with a Sram item then.

Plan B has happened quickly. I've googled about a bit and come across the option that it's possible to convert/uprate a Sram Monarch R to an Monarch RT3.
    Has anyone else done this?

    Common and decent upgrade.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

only real difference in in the three LSC compression settings. I personally don't see it as an upgrade. have a look at the Manitou McLeod

I am in a similar situation and looking to upgrade my Monarch R, there is nothing wrong with it really but I just want a more efficient pedalling bike. The Monarch R doesn't really offer much adjustment apart from rebound.

Whats Manitou McLeod like? I have never seen it before and its quite cheap to buy on the Rose Bikes website so could be a good deal.

Also can anyone help with shock tunes? My Monarch tune is MH however I cannot find an RT3 with same tune only MM or ML3 are available... any idea whats the difference and how they feel?

    Cheers,
    Mark

The Monarch Rt3 is quite a lot better than the R. It's a lot less harsh.
