I'll heed your advice there Oxoman, they are wise a wise counsel indeed. I will carry out the procurement of trousers with the utmost care.

Young whippersnappers. You should show more respect, if it wasn't for us you wouldn't be able to ... err...well...err...
Rather moist here, was glad of the excuse to drive in today. Need to bunk off early to take daughter to the hospital for an appointment. Then off to the pub with the Mrs to start the weekend. Also have a mild dose of man flu which is dull.
    Roll on the weekend

    Its all relative isn't it.

Very soggy start today, declined the usual pedal in owning to being lazy, a theme I plan to carry on today.

Morning. Sprogs were surprisingly compliant this morning. Dampish ride in, feeling those Hennessy chasers a bit, but the ride always blows away the cobwebs. Morning in calls with German colleagues, then the Times Crossword with a box of Vietnamese pork and sticky rice, then looking busy until the ride home, possibly the scenic route if weather permits. Might buy a cote de boeuf for dinner if the butcher on Watling Street is doing his usual Friday afternoon discounts, in which case there will be red wine. If not, my liver could do with a break, so fizzy water and bad temper.

Did a couple of hours work at home then mistimed my journey in so had to do a conference call from Costa's in Victoria. start as you mean to carry on I say.

Am lending one of my MTB's to a mate in return for him giving it a good fettling. The joys of having unemployed friends. I think that's a win-win?

Died the death of a thousand Zwifters on the way home - last hill was sooooo horrible. Think the secret is not to have a massive gym sesh before riding home.

Now just sitting in the sun chillin' with a coffee. Nice. It's not the warmest but it's not the coldest and it's definitely not the wettest.

The last one went in eventually after the coffee and it was this...

Pursuit commonly cancelled free of charge (7)

I had all the crossers so it looked like this: _N_A_ED

I thought it might be snailed. But the a's in the wrong place and snailed isn't actually a pursuit or a real world.

    The answer is "untaxed"

    Definition is "free of charge".

Word play is "pursuit commonly" i.e. hunt said "commonly" would be 'unt, dropping the h. Then cancelled is "axed".

Add the two together and you get untaxed.

Keeps me sane while eating lunch.

I'll keep quiet about this third hobby (after cycling and drinking) in future...it's a bit niche.

Wrong. It's INVALIDATED. If you write it in small enough letters it fits in all the boxes and just change the words around it to make the letters work.

    I AM A WORDS GENIUS.
