Looks very bad indeed.

Perhaps the man at the top should go?

It's worldwide and in many languages and countries. So it's not just our NHS, but this does reflect badly.

Is it limited to health organisations?

Just goes to show why we should spend £200bn on renewing Trident.

Feeeeck. We will be killing ourselves with drones before all that sh1t is built. I hate the way we keep acting like a world power just because we once had an Empire. One strike on the UK and we are gone anyway. Russia, US, China have enough land to want to protect.

Great documentary on Britain's H-bomb and just how it helped keep our place at the top table of the world.

We were so much more ambitious back then - sorted an H-bomb (mostly on our own) then developed a supersonic airliner with the French.

Back OT - I'd love to know who it was that thought hacking the NHS was a good idea: I'd personally wring their neck(s) with my bare hands and stuff their genitalia down their own throat.

I doubt they were specifically targetted as our firms IT security bods issued a warning for it as well and we arent anything to do with the NHS, it just sounds like an every day common garden virus, that someone or lots of someones have opened because it resembled an official looking email or link or something, and it went and encrypted anything resembling a disk drive be it local or networked that it was connected to, alot of NHS trusts still use Windows XP use the same PC to update patient medical records and browse the internet on, and once its on the system you are stuffed trying to access the data.

I'd still do the same thing if I had the chance to get hold of them...

well i'm a bit confused by this as windows defender in windows 10 is the only version that compares to commercial AV yet pretty much no healthcare systems have up to date OS let alone windows 10, unless they went all out and mass upgraded which i find hard to believe.

so assuming they havent are they saying the NHS was relying on the old defender which wasnt a full AV?

    Who has most to gain?
I blame A/V software companies. A conspiracy theory is more fun than simple guessing.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

They should have used Linux. Make the software more specific and niche avoiding more generically based MS attacks.

When someone only accepts Bitcoin on Buy and Sell.. there's one lead for GCHQ/NSA et all

How on earth is this secret , untouchable money getting away with it....?

GCHQ tweeted this whilst failing to protect the UK from NSA written code. Still, I'm sure it won't stop the government trying to install more backdoors and weaken security.

GCHQ, 5 and 6 are quite good at doing their jobs. Perhaps it's better for the Guardianista snowflakes not to worry too much stuff they don't understand .,..,

Yeah, right, because the same guy who does the tweets also does the cyber security. He's double hatted.

I was surprised to hear that Renault F1 suffered from this hack. Last time I was at their factory it was as a guest of Microsoft who, incidentally, sponsor Renault Sport and were showing us at the good they were doing for Renault...

Microsoft give NSA a broadside along the lines of BigBean.
