A slightly experimental one: the frame has taken over the landscape behind...

For a perspective of what pro photographers have to do to get the shots that people who "snap" just don't get, search Adventure Show, Colin Prior on iPlayer.
FWIW the video photographer gets the best shots in my opinion.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Yay it's Blakey! What brought that on? Why are you trying to piddle on our amateur chips?
Pro photographers are just that - pro. So I would expect them to work hard at it given it's their living and they are... professional. The competition to be a professional photographer must be huge.
I remember saying to John Voos (Photo journalist for the Independent) "I'd love to be a sports journalist". It wasn't a serious thought. He then asked how many I thought were taking pics for the top newspapers in the UK; 8 national newspapers perhaps, 3 or 4 max per paper... A whole load of privateers jostling for position.
    That got me thinking.

Oh yes, for sure. Proper pro photographers do stuff that takes the breath away, and the results don't come easy. Here's a young chap I know: http://www.nicholasjrwhite.co.uk/2017/3 ... ts-project

Me, I'll stick to easy snaps, and a low strike rate for the odd lucky one (in a very amateur sense).

    Good video.

Love the shot of the mist separating the dwelling from the mountain peak. All with a box camera too.

    Why take it personally?
I only thought it was an interesting programme. Try putting the amateur chips on both shoulders.

First thing in the morning, still dark, not yet had a coffee.

Obviously got my iphone with me when on the bike but I've been looking for a film solution.

Picked one of these up a couple of weeks ago, ran a test roll through and all good. Fits beautifully in my back pocket. Hurrah.

A handy size and a good lens for what it is.

I think I have a similar one kicking around if anyone is interested.

Yeah, given that it will predominantly be landscape/environmental shots it should work pretty well. The test roll of Poundland special came back pretty sharp actually.

My FIL had one of these and it produced some tidy shots.

Ha, seeing that Olympus reminded me of my old tiny Rollei, bought in Bahrain in 1980:

Haven't used it in 20 years, I guess. Followed that up with an OM1.

Nice Narbs. Like the B & W shot, it's got texture and the shadows and the building is more than what it seems - new windows, a modern bicycle yet the rest is a little 'rustique'.

That's some saddle to handlebar drop BTW.

Cheers Pinno, it's a beautiful area.

Drop does look big in that photo! Fits like a glove though.

What was climbing the Ventoux like? I hear you have to 'book' in advance and I presume the descent (traffic free) was good?

Ventoux? No need to book! It's all on open roads which, although aren't closed, are pretty free of traffic during the week.

Nice shot. Has a warm, busy feeling to it. Was that from the dodgy walking bridge adjacent to the London eye?

Thanks Pinno. It's taken from Waterloo Bridge, looking east (so the sunset is behind me).

If you like that view, find an excuse to catch a southbound train from Blackfriars. The platform has stunning views of the Thames framed by the City and the Shard, with Tower Bridge in the background.
