    For a perspective of what pro photographers have to do to get the shots that people who "snap" just don't get, search Adventure Show, Colin Prior on iPlayer.
    FWIW the video photographer gets the best shots in my opinion.

    Pro photographers are just that - pro. So I would expect them to work hard at it given it's their living and they are... professional. The competition to be a professional photographer must be huge.
    I remember saying to John Voos (Photo journalist for the Independent) "I'd love to be a sports journalist". It wasn't a serious thought. He then asked how many I thought were taking pics for the top newspapers in the UK; 8 national newspapers perhaps, 3 or 4 max per paper... A whole load of privateers jostling for position.
    That got me thinking.

    Me, I'll stick to easy snaps, and a low strike rate for the odd lucky one (in a very amateur sense).

    Obviously got my iphone with me when on the bike but I've been looking for a film solution.

    Picked one of these up a couple of weeks ago, ran a test roll through and all good. Fits beautifully in my back pocket. Hurrah.

    Yeah, given that it will predominantly be landscape/environmental shots it should work pretty well. The test roll of Poundland special came back pretty sharp actually.

    Nice Narbs. Like the B & W shot, it's got texture and the shadows and the building is more than what it seems - new windows, a modern bicycle yet the rest is a little 'rustique'.

    That's some saddle to handlebar drop BTW.

    What was climbing the Ventoux like? I hear you have to 'book' in advance and I presume the descent (traffic free) was good?

    Ventoux? No need to book! It's all on open roads which, although aren't closed, are pretty free of traffic during the week.

    If you like that view, find an excuse to catch a southbound train from Blackfriars. The platform has stunning views of the Thames framed by the City and the Shard, with Tower Bridge in the background.
