Found loads of oxtail reduced at Tesco this morning ... going to show it a bottle of wine and slow cook it for a few hours.

Should make a nice ragu by tonight

Working from home today as the kids are at the grandparents and wife off at work

It means we will get chance to walk up Rodney's pillar later

    Are you in Middletown then?

What does Rodney think of you traipsing on his pillar?
    Morning folks,
Suffering this morning, quite a fitful kip for some reason so my eyes aren't playing ball. Only in for a few hours as I have to take the girl up to Great Ormond Street later. Today being Wednesday I will be going to the pub later.

    Morning, WFW today unfortunatly.

Bad nights sleep as I thought my dinner was going to leave me in quite a spectacular manner so come the 6am alarm call I threw something heavy at the clock.

Slept fine me. It was the waking up bit that was tricky.
Decided to do nought. The problem with that is, there's nought to do.
Left eye really f*cking hurts (2 days to see eye specialist woman from Eastern Europe*) but I can still see the De Rosa that is for sale on fleabay with one eye.

    Meh.

The Idol disc was my other option over the Trek and I could have made a detaour to their factory in Milan to collect in person.

Settled on the Trek though and a local warranty after reading rafts* of paint job complaints about De Rosa.

*Yes I know people only take to the keyboard about bad experiences but there were very few Trek complaints.

Trek would just be a little known American frame if it hadn't been ridden by that man.
However, you are getting good value for the Trek. Poor second hand value though. You can pick clean examples off fleabay pretty cheaply.
I am still toying with the idea for a Trek as a winter bike and getting the C40 re-sprayed and back to former glory but then it becomes the 3rd bike: not the all singing Wilier summer bike and not the winter bike.
    What do you do...

    I'd consider a Trek.

Roasting hot over here today. About 12 degrees now just.

Think I'm recovering from the ebolaids I caught whilst cycling up Wrynose on Saturday.

    Fleche Wallone later.

Has Gaz got it in him? He's a banker and aspirational tendencies tend to surface in this breed which evaporate on non delivery but cause pain amongst the general population

He definitely has 'tendencies'; that's evident. Maybe he has/had dreams of being in marketing or dentistry. After all, that particular strain of MAMILS seem to be attracted to Trek's.

Where is he anyway? I bet he's looking forward to watching Julian Alaphilippe winning Fleche Wallone in the highlights later.

Regarding bikes, I like carbon and round tubes. I would like a C60 and one day I might actually buy one. I used to like Look, but nowadays they all look shite.

Can't beat a big fat round tube if you ask me - which is why I like 'D'Alès so much.

Although it is a Trek, I must admit my Madone 5.5 SL frames is nice and fat and ticks all boxes even if it is carbon.

Agree completely with the Gazmeister re Look: picked up the 2017 catalogue today and mmmmmmm - not so much....

Anyhow, first day back at work today and all went glorious, including fitting b/b to new cx bike. Success. Now having a Peroni. Roll on tomorrow.

Today would have been better if some utter twat hadn't crashed in the Blackwall tunnel (one way with a 20mph limit) and got the whole thing closed for ages. Still got up North before the bloke news due round to unblock the drains though.

Spent most of the time tidying up, turfing stuff out, sorting some photos to use for the order of service and making a few calls. Have now raided the grog cabinet.
