    Thanks All.

Thought I should drop in now I have finished contacting family and friends who knew my old man.

I made the mistake of headed back South yesterday for a couple of days thinking he had stabilised and got a call this morning to get back up North before it was too late. Unfortunately I was by about 45 minutes. In the end it was probably for the best as his quality of life had he survived would have been terrible.

The support I've had in this short time from everyone has been superb and a real help.

    I'll be back...

    Condolences.

I lost my father after he had been ill for a while and it wasn't a good experience; just had to try and remember him in happier times.

Sorry to hear this. I know the feeling. My father passed away December 2015. After several strokes the previous few years prior he ended up in hospital. He was due to be discharged on the friday and this didn't happen.

I last saw him on the Friday night, he passed on the sunday after going into Intensive care. I 'saw' him Saturday but he was not there as such.

Mum rang sunday to say he was stable and improving but he then deteriorated and passed away. Like you, it was better for him as the quality of life he would have had would have been horrific.

I made the choice to go see him after he had passed and not sure to this day if that was the right thing.

I don't know you at all. But condolences. It does get easier with time though.
